TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer) is a community-based training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. Player participation and development are key elements of the program as players are placed on teams according to ability and NOT by age. TOPSoccer is designed to improve the overall fitness, self-esteem and social skills of your child. Our goal is to enable young athletes with disabilities to become valued and successful members of the DSC family.
What to expect:
Each session will be run at Rabbit Hill Park’s soccer complex. Sessions will focus on movement both with a ball and without as players work on general athletic as well as soccer specific skills appropriate for the individual player. Each session will have multiple games designed by an experienced soccer coach for each of the kids to play. An experienced coach will be at every TOPSoccer session to coordinate the volunteers as well as monitor the games. Activities will be fun oriented and the players will be encouraged by the volunteers who are helping to provide this TOPSoccer experience.
The volunteers who will be “coaching” your child come from the local high schools, churches, and other civic minded organizations. Most of your player’s “buddies” will be high school students who love to work with children and receive volunteer hours for their high school clubs. Many of the “buddies” have soccer experience to draw from. All of the “buddies” have a great attitude and great energy to share.
